Most days I look around the house and see all the unfinished projects, the missing, unpainted molding, the mismatched doors, the tiling that needs done above the shower, the painting that still needs to be done, the stairs that still need varnished, and the counters that need replacing. I see rooms that have projects left to do, the wishlist of things I want to change in the house grows a little bit everytime I watch HGTV or read another magazine (have I mentioned I own a whole library of decor magazines- I can't bear to part with them because I might lose an idea that I had in one from a few years back).
When we moved into this house it was A MESS. I can't believe Bruce ever convinced me to buy it. He had a 2 year flip plan in mind, fix it up, sell it, make a profit and move on. 2 boys and 4 years later... we're still here, and still unfinshed. Most of the time that's what I focus on, the unfinished part. Today however, I realize just how much we HAVE accomplished. How much our house has changed in the past 4 years. Once upon a time it had a leaky roof, aqua blue aluminum siding, and windows and doors that ushered in the cold air. We had a bathroom that was a sea of puke green and flowered wallpaper, there weren't even floors in the house when we moved in, just plywood subfloors. So, even though the list of projects is still ongoing, there are still things I look at and see as unfinished, today I am focusing on all the changes we have been able to accomplish and today I am proud of us.

Hi Jacquelyn!
ReplyDeleteI just found a comment you left on an older post about my canisters. I actually bought them a couple of years ago at a store called Homeworks in Southern Utah that is now out of business. Sorry I'm not much help there!
Thanks for your sweet words on my blog. I so know what you mean about always feeling "under construction." I think all moms probably feel that way about most areas of their lives. I know I do! Your boys are darling!
